Hi Brady,

I agree this the PayPal IPN would be a great feature to add, currently this issue is not on the dev Roadmap but I have moved your post to the Enhancement Requests forum. We prioritize programming on our modules in the following order:

Bug Fixes
Sponsored or paid change requests
Enhancements with the most requests

If you would like to prioritize a feature request to the top of the list do one of the following:
Submit a quote request here http://www.smith-consulting.com/servi...
Email sales@smith-consulting.com

We quote all features enhancements below cost since it is enhancing the module, If your company has budget to sponsor a feature let us know, in most cases we can start work on the new feature within a week.

Thanks,

Hi Kevin,

I think the PayPal IPN feature would be very helpful.

Without this feature, if the user closes the PayPal redirecting page as it is displayed for a few seconds and it displays that the payment has been done, some orders will not be marked as payed.

Moreover, to be able to mark an order as paid, you tell in the user guide that the PayPal autoReturn feature must be activated (and must redirect to the website home page). That implies that it is impossible to use several shopping cart using the same PayPal seller account. That is not acceptable.

Hope this feature will be implemented very soon.

Kevin,

Here are some usefull stuff to implement PayPal IPN feature in your card module:

Script generator: https://www.paypaltech.com/SG2/

PayPal IPN reference guide: https://cms.paypal.com/cms_content/US...

A 'how-to' page that lists variables that can be transmitted during checkout: https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/web...

If this IPN feature is not planned to be implemented soon, a 'custom' field exists in the notification variables list (see last link above). Could you pass the OrderId being processed in this field to allow implement a 'custom IPN handling', developping our own code (if a custom field can be passed without specifying the ipn return address in the sent checkout request (notify_url field) ?) ?

Thanks.

Hi Rico,
Thanks for posting the info on PayPal IPN feature I will pass this along to our programmer working on this feature. Also, we have fixed the following Paypal Standard bugs that you will be interested in:

  • Amount field - There was an issue with amount formatting for PayPal Standard payment request. It has to always use point decimal separator no matter the currency. The bug only applies if you have configured your store for a currency that doesnt use decimal places (i.e. EURO uses commma as decimal seperator).
  • Return URL - The cart was appending a ":443" after the domain name when populating the return url that was sent to Paypal which was causing an issue returning the user back to your site after payment was completed at Paypal.

The 2 bug fixes will be available in the next cart release v4.64 on 10/15/11.

Thanks,
