I have a customer who has an item that weighs 57oz.. When their customer adds 19 of those to the cart, the shipping calculator works fine.. it calculates the cost of shipping correctly. When they add the 20th item (same item), it says TBD. I'm assuming that the weight exceeds the 70LB max for Parcel, Express, Priority. Is there any kind of work around or additional shipping option that permits shipments over 70lbs?

Thanks,

Tony

Hi Tony,

Do you have a Max Package Weight set in your Cart Settings?

Thanks

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the reply. I'm having difficulty finding "Max Package Weight " in the cart settings and also in the Smith Cart Manual PDF.. can you help me locate that?

Thanks,

Tony

Hi Tony,

Which version of the Cart are you running?

The "Max Package Weight " field is located in the Shipping and Handling Setup of your Cart settings below Shipping Methods. See Below,

They're running version 3.88. Must not be available in our version.

Hi Tony,

Yes you are correct, the Max Package Weight was first introduced in v.4.01. Would it be possible for you to upgrade to the latest version? We release new versions of the cart frequently with bug fixes, security patches and new features which provides a level of protection for your ecommerce site.

Thanks,

How do I go about upgrading them to a newer version? Is that something I can download or get emailed to me?

Tony,
The cart comes with 3 months of free upgrades from the date of purchase and then 50% off within 6 months. We also offer a maintenance plan here is a link to the upgrade policy with all the info you need.

I'm pretty sure that our customer is beyond the 3 months of upgrades & 50% off deadlines. If that's the case, how much does it cost for the upgrade? Will it resolve the issue we're having? To allow shipments over 70LBs?

Hi Tony,

The upgrade should solve the issue your are expieriening. To confirm the issue is fixed in the latest version of the Cart before purchasing the upgrade you can download the trial version and then upgrade to the latest build to fix the issue.

I would recommend signing up the the Cart Maintenance Plan. We ask that customers maintain an active cart maintenance plan so you will have access to cart downloads area throughout the year as needed. You can purchase the Maintenance Plan at the following link: https://www.smith-consulting.com/pd.aspx

Or you could purchase the latest version of the Cart at $199.95 from the following link:

Do you have this set up in a beta where I could test the upgrade to see if does what we're expecting it to do? In looking at the USPS site, none of their shipping options allow items to be over 70 lbs.. Parcel supposedly allows larger items over 70 lbs, but their calculator rejects 71 lbs.

Just want to see how your upgraded cart will handle it.

Hi Tony,

Currently the Max weight of a package when using the USPS Shipping Method is 70lbs. The Max Package Weight field is actually a feature used with the UPS Shipping Calculator and has not yet been implemented for the USPS Calculator. I will add this feature request to the Enhancement Requests forum to be added to our Dev Roadmap.

Thanks,
