Hello,

I'm in the process of testing my store. I've set the Store "From" Email value to be orders@[my domain]

My DNN SMTP settings are configured to send mail via my Google Apps account via the admin@[my domain] account.

When I do a test buy, I get confirmation mails from admin@... and not from orders@...

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

I'm running SC 5.65 on DNN 7.0.06

BTW, is anyone seeing issues in searching the forum? If I enter say, mail in the search box, I get results. If I enter two terms - mail from - I get a page with this displayed:
The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom,

May I ask if you have the User E-mail Template configured as well as the Admin E-mail Template? In addition, could you please provide a screen shot of you E-mail configuration in your Cart Settings.

Also, we are aware of the issue with the search bar and working to resolve it. For now the best solution would be to do a site search using google.

Example: site:www.smith-consulting.com "mail from"

Please let me know if you have anymore questions. Thank you!

I only have two email templates configured - User Email Template and Ship Email Template.

I've attached a screen shot of my email settings

Hi Tom,

I have been unable to replicate this issue. Just to confirm the issue. The customer is not receiving the Store Order E-mail correct?

Please let me know so that I may further assist you. Thank you!

No, the email is coming through fine. The problem is who it's coming from.

In DNN, I have SMTP set up to use the admin@[domain account]. When site stuff happens - new user, etc. - I (the admin) get mail from admin@... That's fine.

When a customer buys something in the store. I don't want him to get confirmation emails from admin@.... I want him to get mail from sales@domain or purchases@domain, or whatever. So, I set the value of "Store From Email" to sales (I've tried several accounts). Nevertheless, my confirmation emails come from admin@domain...

Hope that makes sense.

Tom

Hi Tom,

Some hosting companies/email service providers don't allow replacing the "from" email with an email address other than the one you authenticate with under the dnn host settings smtp section.

For example, if you are using google apps, etc for your email server then they will replace the "from" address with the email account you authenticate with in your host smtp settings. Alot of email services consider this a relay which spammers are famous for.

What email service are you using for your email?

Thanks!

I'm using Google Apps - see the first post.

Thanks,

Hi Tom,

Since you are using Google Apps, the "from" address will be replaced with the email account you authenticate with in your host smtp settings.

Hope this helps!

Yup. I just tested this. I made a new account in Google Apps and changed my SMTP settings to onlinesales@.... Confirmation mail now comes from that account.

It's not ideal since "Administrative" mail from the site itself - new users, errors, etc. - will now go to that account also. I know it's out of SC's hands and I understand the limitations.

Thanks for clarifying,

Tom
