Hey guys,

Im using Smith Cart version 5.56 and DNN 7.1. I've noticed on a number of products on my site that somehow a "ghost" secondary product image has been added. This produces a broken image link on the product description. When I right click on the image to view the broken image's URL, I get the following:

http://www.yandasmusic.com/Portals/0/SmithCart/Thumbnails/

This URL does not even specify an image, just a directory. I also noticed that these ghost images were being added when I manually enter a new product via the SC GUI. I can't delete them, they are just there. You can view this in action at: http://www.yandasmusic.com/8/producti...

Is there a db script I can run to clear out all these non-existent images? Is there something else you would suggest?

Thanks - Alex

Hi Alex,

Could you please provide a screen shot of the product details module settings. This will help us to resolve the issue you are experiencing.

Thanks!

Hi Alex,

You Image Gallery is set to "Image Gallery with Zoom Effect", have you uploaded zoom images? If not, I recommend using the Image Gallery with Lightbox effect option.

Please let me know if this work for you.

Thanks!

Kevin,

Sorry I dropped the ball on this thread. I do in fact have product zoom images uploaded for these. I just completed another product import, and I noticed the same behavior. For some reason unknown to me, the product import is adding a blank third image for my products when I only have two specified in the spreadsheet.

You can view an example of this in action at the following:
http://www.yandasmusic.com/z/productid/9100/hsa-stdrt-ii-standard-series-rolltop-professional-audio-video-desk

As you can see, the zoom images for the two images I specified are loading, but a ghost third image has been added to the product for some unknown reason. After crusing my site a little, I found this to be the case on hundreds of products. Quite a daunting task to clean up manually. Any suggestions?

Something I noticed of note.

When I right click on the ghost image to view the image url I am given the following:
http://www.yandasmusic.com/Portals/0/SmithCart/Thumbnails/

Also of note, when I click the ghost third image I am shown image alt tag text, which should not be the case. I checked the product SEO options, and I have specified an image alt tag for the first two images, but the third image alt tag field is blank. The alt tag listed is a duplicate of the first image.

Could there be a bug with the image alt tag import that is causing these ghost images? I know I just recently paid to have this feature added to the cart, and I never noticed the behavior before the update. As far as I know anyways.

Hi Alex,

This looks to be an issue with some of the new Image Gallery options added recently. These issue have been resolved and will be included in the release of 5.67 later this week.

Hope this helps!

Hey Kevin,

That's good to hear that the issue has been found. I was wondering if there was any way for me to clean this up without performing an upgrade. Unfortunately for me, upgrading the software often turns into a month long ordeal that I don't have time for right now.

I've been doing some digging in the database to see where these ghost fields are adding in the non-existant images, but I haven't had any luck. Are you aware of the nature of the error? Is this something I can correct manully on my site, or do I have to upgrade.

Sorry if it's asking a lot, but I would really appreciate it!

Hi Alex,

I asked our programmers about this and feedback is that the issue was caused by a combination of javascript files being deployed, css, and changes to the code behind so unfortunately this isn't something that can be easily corrected manually and would require an upgrade. In the meantime, you may be able to select another one of the Image Gallery options as a temporary workaround.

Hope this helps!
