The user is still assigned to a paid role even after I cancel the subscription! A major hole!

Which payment gateway are you testing with? The cancel subscription button is currently only programmed to work with Authorize.net and works in conjunction with the silent postback feature to remove a user from the role so you would need to have the silent postback url configured in your authorize.net virtual terminal.

Hi,
I am testing this with 3.35.
I set up the silent URL.

I made a paid subscription, SUCCESS
I checked Auth.net account.... shows the subscription in ARB....SUCCESS
I went to the Smiht Manage Subscriptions and cencelled the subscription....SUCCESS
I went to Auth.net and check if the subscription got cancelled.. yes!.......SUCCESS
I went to the DNN->Admin->Security Roles and checked the role. The user was still assigned to that Role......FAIL.......

Now, even though the user is not there any more in the smith database tables, he/she is still there in the DNN database and still has the role. And they will be able to see all the restricted content (that are only for the paid members.!)

Please clarify this....
Thanks
Srishti

Just to confirm, you are saying that when you cancel the subscription from the Smith Manage Subscription page it cancels the ARB subscription at Authorize.Net but does not remove the user from the dnn role? Are you using a live or test account at Authorize.Net?

Hey Scott,
Thanks for getting to this. I really need to get this site running.

Yes, say for a bronze membership, the user subscription gets cancelled from Auth.net and he's removed from the Smith Manage subscription module/database, but the user is still present as a subscibed user to the Bronze role in DNN User accounts/security Roles.

And since the user still has the Bronze (or silver or gold) role he/she can still view the content that should only be for bronze/gold/silver members.

Yes, I am testing it live on auth.net and on smith registration module and not with a test account

Hello,
Any luck on figuring this out guys?
This is a major issue and I would like it to work satisfactorily before I can commit to this module...
Thanks a lot

Where are you cancelling the subscription from?

  • My Accounts module
  • Admin module - Manage Subscription screen
  • At Authorize.Net

I am trying this from the Admin module-> manage subscriptions. I click on Cancel Subscription. The person's subscription gets deleted from the manage module and from the Auth.net. But he stilla has the role assigned in the DNN User accounts.

The My Account module doesn't work, as I mentioned in this thread:
http://www.smith-consulting.com/Forums/forumid/5/threadid/6933/scope/posts.aspx

This is really serious.

I had one of the programmers look at this today and currently when you click the cancel button on the manage subscription page it deletes the subscription from Authorize.Net but its not programmed to remove the user from the role they were added to when they registered. I have added this to the feature request list. Thanks for reporting the issue!

Scott...

I'm in the process of evaluatiing this product.  Has the issue related to this post been resolved?  Meaning..when a subscription is cancelled through authorize.net, that the user is removed from the role??

Thank you.

Hi Steve,

Yes, this feature is now supported using Auth.net's Silent Post-back feature configured with the module. For more information on Auth.net's Silent Post-back feature please see the following forum post:

Thanks,
