The two biggest issues my customers have complained about are:

  1. When you add to cart, it doesn't take you to a "Your product has been added to the cart" page. It confuses them because "Amazon etc does it that way". It would also be an enhancement to add a "suggested accessories" on this "cart confirmation" page. I.e. if you were buying a camera, it would suggest an SD card or extra battery.
  2. The required login is weird because it is at the end right before submitting payment and that it is part of the payment screen. Most other stores require login when you click "check out" and it is a login screen all by itself. Something along the lines of "You must login to checkout". The login to add to cart doesn't make sense.

I think #1 can be useful either way, but apparently my customers like confirmation and not just the mini cart changing quantity. Maybe create a cart confirmation page ascx, a setting that will allow us to set the cart confirm page, and if checked on settings it redirects to the page that this module is on. At this point a "suggested accesories" module would be nice to have. "Suggested accesories" would need to be set up on a per item basis.

I agree with them on #2. This is the only store that does it that way and it doesn't feel right.

Especially the second part would be great to have.

Regarding item 2 the cart has the ability to prompt for login at the beginning of the checkout. In the buynow settings under the general cart setup section if you check the box titled "Show Login Page" the cart login page will be displayed when the user clicks the checkout button on the cart page. The cart login screen has the standard "New User" and Returning User" prompts.

Also in the buynow settings under the confirmation page (before payment) you can hide the login prompt on the confirmation page just before payment by checking the box titled "Hide Login Prompt".

I'm not seeing the setting  you suggest.  Perhaps they have changed since then?

I thought forcing the user to "login" before adding to cart would fix my problem but it doesn't.

1.  When the user goes to checkout they have to login?  Why?  didn't they just create the account? why aren't they automatically logged in?

2.  Why isn't the login tied to DNN login?  It's very confusing for us and them.

thanks for any light you can shed on this.

Craig
