We have a few days left on our trial version of the Smith Cart. When we upload an image for a product, the thumbnail image is generated without an extension and the html refers to it with an extension (.jpg).

Is this because we are still using the trial version?

I had experienced this at one point also, but not on all computers. The main one we were using to add products would have this result all the time, but another computer never did. I am not sire what caused this for us, but after I reset the browser (IE8) and then ran a free registry cleaner (CCleaner) it began working fine and I haven't had the problem since. And, FYI we are running the current version of the cart now (v3.0).

Hope this helps.

I agree try clearing the cache and temp files in your browser first. It could be a permissions issue or maybe in dnn you have disallowed certain file extensions? Also check your dnn event viewer and windows event viewer for any errors or permissions messages when you save the thumbs.

It should not have anything to do with the trial version.

I am still experiencing the same problem. I have tried a couple of different browsers with cleared cache and temp files, so I'm inclined to think it's a server setting somewhere. I looked through the DNN options and found that jpg files were OK (at least, in that one setting).

I'm concerned that perhaps there's a setting on the discountasp.net hosting service that I need to adjust. For example, is it ASPNET_USER creating this file? I'm new to discountasp.net so I'm not sure about the permissions. I notice I cannot see the smithcart directory on the DNN filemanager.

Thank you.

In the dnn file manager click the "Synchronize Folders" and then see if you can see the image folders. The following are the path/folders that the images are saved to:

Thumbnail Images - \portals\[yourportalid]\smithcart\thumbnails

Large Images - \portals\[yourportalid]\smithcart\images

We updated the thumbnail resizing routines today and made the program more efficient and added some additional error handling to the thumb resizing program. It will be released in version 3.01 tomorrow.
