Hello,

I'm on SC 5.68 and DNN 7.1.1.

I have several products configured in the catalog. I can add them to the cart and checkout. I then wanted to configure a product to have a Related Product. I edited the product and configured the chosen product to be a Related product. If, as a shopper, I look at the "main" product, I see the Related product in the Related product tab - fine. If I try to checkout however, after the first step (name, address, click next), it kicks me back to my catalog page with this error.

From this point on, the store is messed up. If I add a product to my cart, it adds but the shipping info is all blank and can't be filled in.

I end up having to recycle the application pool to get things working again. If I go back into the product and remove the related product, it works again with no issues.

Thanks for any help,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Are there any errors being logged to your DNN Event Viewer?

Please provide screenshots of the following screens:

  • Shipping Setup
  • Payment Setup

  • Related Product Setup

Thanks!

Here is the store setup but getting screen shots of all those settings is going to be about 50 pictures. Can you confirm that you *don't* see this when you configure a Related product?

Hi Tom,

I haven't been able to replicate this issue but I may not have the same configuration as you. You should still have access to our test site, are you able to replicate the issue there?

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Kind Regards,
Kevin Carlson

I can login to your test site but I'm not an Admin any longer so I can't configure the cart.

Hi Tom,

I just updated your permissions. You should have Admin access now.

Thanks!

Well, I'm even more confused now.

Your first product - Product 3 - already had a Related product associated so I "bought" that and it worked fine of course. But then I noticed that you don't have a Related Products tab on the product detail page to actually *show* the related products. So it seems like something is not quite right on your test site. I tried deleting the existing Product Detail template thinking that maybe the tab was overridden but it made no difference.

The other thing is that your Shopping Cart page looks different from mine. When I View Cart, I get the listed product and price but I also get a "Ship To" section for Shipping information (name, address, etc.) - see below. You don't have that on your Shopping Cart page. I would like mine to be setup like yours.

Other things look different from my site also - On the Buy Now page, you have the dynamic menu bar that has access to all the store settings. I just have that red toolbox that takes me to the Admin page.

I can't tell what SC version is on the Test site. I have 5.68.

Hi Tom,

The Related Product Tab wasn't enabled in the Product Details module settings and the Shipping was set to Free Shipping. Please see the following screenshots:

You have full Admin access to the test site. You can configure the Cart to exactly match your store.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Yeah, I know I can configure the test site to match my store but with 10,000 settings in the store, it's a little hard to make sure they are the same...

Even stranger, my store seems to be working now. I can't cause the error to happen. I haven't changed anything. I came back in to try and compare settings and I set my product back to having a related product and now it works. I can't explain it.

Hi Tom,

It sounds like something was cached in your browser or machine. This happens sometimes during testing when changing settings or running multiple transactions back to back as some things are stored in session when enabled. To prevent this you can recycle the app pool, reset iis or clear your cache to remove the data in session.

Hope this helps!

I now see that it fails if I have multiple products in my cart but not if I only have the one.

I tried to reproduce this on the test site but I've lost my admin privs again. If I can get those back, I'll try and make it happen there.
