Hi:

Using SmithCart 4.67. Customers are reporting that the buttons on a product page contain no text (e.g. Add To Cart).  I don't know if this affects more than IE8, but I cannot reproduce it.  I was able to contact a customer and he sent two screenshots.  It seems the error is in scFancyBox.js:

Object doesn't support this property or method

scFancyBox.js Line: 2

Code 0: char 5

Is there a way to disable this until a solution is figured out?  People can't order.

Here's the generated HTML:

<a id="dnn_ctr492_ProductDetails_ibAddtoCart" title="ADD TO CART" class="b_link" href='javascript:WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions(new WebForm_PostBackOptions("dnn$ctr492$ProductDetails$ibAddtoCart", "", true, "", "", false, true))' style="font-size:12px;">ADD TO CART</a>

Hi Mark,

Have you been able to replicate this issue only in IE8? I have not been able to replicate this issue in IE9, Firefox, or Chrome.

We currently do not have any machines in our office running IE8 so it will take some time to set one up as you cannot run multiple IE versions on the same machine.

Can you confirm is this issue if present when the default BlackKnight skin is enabled?

Thanks,

Hey Kevin:

Yes, I can replicate it on IE8. I happened to have an old desktop with IE8.  Here are details:

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; GTB6.3; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.30; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; OfficeLiveConnector.1.3; OfficeLivePatch.0.0; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E; AskTbDVSV5/5.13.1.18107)

Message: Object doesn't support this property or method
Line: 2
Char: 5
Code: 0

I'd be glad to step through this more if it will help.

Screenshot attached.

Thanks.

Hi Mark,

Can you confirm is this issue if present when the default BlackKnight skin is enabled?

We have seen issues with IE before in which case the changing the doctype was the solution. Here is a good post on setting the DNN doctype it also has a video:

Thanks

Hey Kevin:

I spent some time with this and tried all three fallback doc settings and no luck. It does work correctly when I change to the DarkKnight skin:

https://www.plumstone.com/Products/Pr... (I may have to change that back when the customer see it.)

I still get the same error.  Is this something I should take up with the skinner (alldnnskins)?

Thanks much!

Mark

Hi Mark,

Not sure exactly what the issue is with your site, it seems to be a browser compatibility issue with you skin as the issue is not present using the default DNN skin and only occurs once your custom skin is enabled. I would recommend either contacting your skin developer or if you would like us to research and troubleshoot this issue for you, please review our support packages at using the following link: http://www.smith-consulting.com/Forum...

Thanks,

Hi Kevin:

Just a quick note on this: They are saying the latest upgrade to the cart caused this. I have no idea if this was an issue before the upgrade or not.

I will ask them what it will take to get it fixed.

Thanks.

Hi Mark,

Without being able to replicate the issue, unfortunately there is not much help I can offer. Please postback if you can provide more info about how this issue can be reproduced.

Thanks,
