We are running Smith Cart 4.57 in DNN6.0 with SQL Server 2008R2.

The cart is not sending order emails to the email addresses configured in the email setup configuration settings in the general cart setup.

We find authorized orders completed in the store admin menu/manage orders and yet no emails have been sent.  If you select a successfully processed order and scroll to the bottom of the orders window and click "send order email"  a blank email will be sent with no subject or data (information).

The DNN install is sending emails through the Host smtp settings fine.  (The website is hosted on the same server as smtp server)  Other submission form modules on the site are sending emails fine so it has to be something about the Smith Cart module that is failing to send emails.

Any help would be appreciated.

Clifton, apparently the email issue, if it the same as mine, has been resolved in 4.72+ which is due to be released soon.

It's quite a long thread but see:

http://www.smith-consulting.com/Forum...

In the meantime, my cart setup might be different to yours, but it does send emails when you go into Manage Orders (albeit a couple of blank tokens), just not at the actual time of purchase. How about you?

Thank you for the information Daniel.

You are correct. Only after configuring email templates in Admin/Email Templates will the cart send emails and then only when you go into Manage Orders and manually send the email. Will not send at the time of a customer purchase.

Hi Clifton,

How do you have your Shipping and Handling section configured in the Cart Settings?

I believe that Daniel may be correct in that if you have Product Level Shipping Cost configured in the Cart Settings, an error would be produced during checkout, preventing the emails from being sent. This issue was resolved in v.4.72+. To confirm the issue is fixed in the latest version of the cart you can download the trial version and then upgrade to the latest build to fix the issue.

Thanks,

Kevin:

The shipping is configured as product level shipping cost and "never tax shipping".

Thanks

Thanks Kevin.

When installing the latest version, can I install this on top of my current version or will I have to do a clean install?  I am concerned about loss of existing configurations, product data, etc.

Thanks for your help.

Hi CLifton,

I recommend doing the upgrade in a test environment first and as always make sure you have a full backup before installing on your live site.

Thanks,

Kevin:

I have downloaded and installed the trial version.  The cart is now sending emails at the time of purchase but they are blank.  I have the admin email template and user email template configured.  The cart previously would send these emails manually before (including the sale data) but not at the time of purchase.  Now the emails sent at the time of sale and sent manually are blank again.   I tried also configuring an invoice template but that did not solve the problem.

Clifton - I had a similar issue too. My problem was that the language for the email template was not being set automatically after an upgrade. I had to go into the Smith Email Template table of the DotNetNuke database, and manually type "en-US" (without quotes) in the three email templates. That resolved my problem. Good luck.

Daniel:

Thank you very much for the info.  You were right.  Only after manually editing the  Smith Email Template table of the DotNetNuke database, and manually typing "en-US" (without quotes) will the cart send the point of sale emails.   It is working now.

Cliff

Hi Clifton and Daniel,

Glad to hear this issue has been resolved thanks to the suggestion by Daniel. I have made note of this as well as sent this info into our programmers in case anyone else experiences the same issue.

Thanks for your feedback!
