After you purchase smithcart and install it you will see a message on the product catalog and cart pages regarding obtaining a license key. The cart is licensed per domain name so you will need to email sales@smithcart.com with the domain you want to license to receive your license key. The license logic validates a name within the url so you can setup a subdomain for your domain name to be used as a test site. For example, if your domain name is mywebsite.com then the license key will work on the following domain names:

1. mywebsite.somedomain.com
2. www.mywebsite.com.
3. mywebsite.com
4. test.mywebsite.com
5. etc, etc you get the idea

This will allow you to use the same license file for your test domain and your live domain.

Dave,

I have a quick question about licensing just to clarify things. I have already purchased one license for a domain for example (mydomain.com). Can I run seperate instances of the cart on subdomains of the domain without buying additional licenses?

For example:

Store1.mydomain.com

Store2.mydomain.com

Would that setup require an additional license or is another license only required when adding another primary domain for example (mydomain2.com)?

Yes you have it correct. Using one license you can run the cart on as many sub domains as you like. If you want to run the cart under a different primary domain name you would need to purchase another license.
