I've been using SmithCart v7.27.0 for years and I just recently had to make some of my items tax exempt.
When I add the item to my cart and then proceed to checkout, the tax shows correctly for that item ($0.00) since it's marked exempt. However, once I put in my address and my CC info and just before confirmation, the tax is back.

Is there another way that I have to set the tax exemption or is this just a bug in this version and I'm SOL unless I purchase an upgraded one from you all?

I'm not using any profiles or dnn logins.

Under the products, the items are marked Tax Exempt (checked) and the Taxable Rate and Taxable Amount are both 0.

Under the Setup > Tax I have "Use Tax Tables" chosen, "Tax shipping always" chosen and "Apply Tax After Discounts" chosen.

Under Setup > Tax > Tax Regions however, the option chosen is "Never Tax Exempt" but the only options I have available are: Never Tax ExemptTax Exempt by Amount and Tax Exempt All Orders in this Region

How do I get only certain products to be tax exempt? For example, I sell software AND hardware but in Florida, software is not taxed as it's considered a digital good. Is there a way to do that in this version or am I just SOL?

Thanks.

Hi,
SmithCart v7.27 is over 2 years old so it is most likely a bug in that version. I recommend upgrading to the latest version to see if that resolves the tax exempt issue.
