There seems to be a few issues with this feature:

1. When I upload an image to represent the icon ("select icon to upload") it does not show up on the page. It shows a missing image link. Its suppose to land in the folder portals/0/smithcart/variants/ but it does not. If you upload an image to the "select image to upload" those images do get uploaded and appear on the site.
2. In the product detail module settings,the last setting to control "Icon/Swatch Max Height" when set works initially when you view the product, but then it resizes the icons to the normal uploaded size after the user clicks on a swatch.

I had to manually upload the icon images via FTP to the variants folder after uploading them via the "select icoon to upload" in order for the images to show on the site.

Oh and the last issue:

Click on the swatch does not change the variant dropdown. So this is not intuitive. the user could click on a swatch but because the drop down does not change, they may not know that if they add it to the cart, they are not adding the product they switched to. The swatches should change the variant dropdown list that its tied to after being clicked on.

Hi Dustin,

In your Product Details module settings, which Image Gallery option do you have selected?

Please also provide a screenshot of your Product Variant Setup screen.

I was so happy when I found this thread, it's exactly all the same issues I'm having with variants.  But now I am so sad becuase you did not share your solution.  Is there anything you can share with me to resolve the issues on why the swatches are not displayed, or the drop down list doesn't update when clicking s swatch, or why the swatches change sizes  from the on the product details page once I click on a swatch?

Hi Daniel,

Its been awhile so I can't recall exactly, Best advice I can give you is to try and change versions and see if it fixes the issue.

Thanks for getting back with me.  I have resolved the issue with the swatches not being displayed - I manually uploaded the images to the corresponding folder.  I can live with the swatches getting bigger - it looks like that may be the standard behavior,  Now the only issue left is that the drop down list doesn't update when a different swatch is clicked.  I can't get the latest version due to the fact that I'm using the cart through a 3rd party.  I just need to know if the dropdown list is "supposed" to change with the clicking of the swatch, or is there some coding in an event that needs to be added?  If coding is needed, I'm sure that someone has already done it and may be able to help me..

Which version of the Cart and DNN are you currently using?

Which Image Gallery option do you have selected in the Product Details module settings?
