Hi guys -

My site takes advantage of the smith cart search module, and it is displayed on all my pages for product searching. There are two issues I have found with this module which have caused users to send us e-mails and tweets reporting the problems. We are using Smith Cart version 5.56

1. The search button
It would seem that the icon a user would click to search products on our site only works some of the time. We have had multiple users report that when they click the icon to search, it does nothing. However, they also reported that the search works if they just simply hit enter after typing in their search terms in the text box. This error seems to also be centered around the google chrome browser.

2. Search "Spinning Wheel"
This is less of a bug and more of a cosmetic issue. When a user types in a search term and starts their search using the search module, nothing happens until the search has completed looking up the database and displays the results. For sites such as mine with a rather large product database, this search can take anywhere from 3-10 seconds. That's 3-10 seconds where a user is left wondering if the search term they entered is actually working, or doing anything for that matter. Definitely enough time for a user to bounce off the page.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but if you search a term with the default buy.now search box, the cart displays a "spinning wheel" letting you know that the site is working on your search. It would be beyond amazing if the search module also displayed this spinning wheel to the user when searching, letting them know that our site does indeed work.

Hi Alex,

1. Please post a screenshot of your Search module settings so I can take a look at your configuration and look further into this.

2. Currently there is not an obvious way to do this with how the search module is set up right now; however, I will add this to our developers queue of things to look into.

Thanks!

Hi Alex,

Looks like you uploaded a screenshot of your MiniCart settings instead of the Search module.

Thanks!

Hi Alex,

It looks like your Search module has an error which prevents the settings of the module from being saved. According to our Change Log this issue was resolved in the release of 5.65 so upgrading may fix the issue of the search module not returning results.

Hope this helps!
