OK here goes. In the hopes that this issue can finally get resolved, what follows are several shipping scenarios performed this morning on the SC test site at www21.smith-consulting.com. This isn't any sort of extravagant shipping setup. It's simply having a few USPS shipping methods for fulfilling both domestic and international orders.

Shipping Setup: Shipping Calculator (UPS, USPS, FedEx, Canada Post, Australia Post, Shipwire)
Shipping Carrier: USPS
In cart: Qty. 1 of item "Product"

------------------------
Ship Method Scenario 1:
------------------------
Parcel Post
First Class
Priority Mail

Domestic Ship To:
PP $6.85
FC $2.07
PM $6.95

International Ship To:
InnerException: Input string was not in a correct format.
Message: DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Input string was not in a correct format. ---> System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format. at System.Number.StringToNumber(String str, NumberStyles options, NumberBuffer& number, NumberFormatInfo info, Boolean parseDecimal) at System.Number.ParseDecimal(String value, NumberStyles options, NumberFormatInfo numfmt) at System.Convert.ToDecimal(String value) at Smith.DNN.Modules.BuyNow.Cart.bindShippingRates() at Smith.DNN.Modules.BuyNow.Cart.CalShippingRates() at Smith.DNN.Modules.BuyNow.Cart.y() at Smith.DNN.Modules.BuyNow.Cart.ai() at Smith.DNN.Modules.BuyNow.Cart.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e)

ISSUES:
- Failure to get international rates

------------------------
Ship Method Scenario 2:
------------------------
Parcel Post
Priority Mail

Domestic Ship To:
PP $2.07
PM $6.95

International Ship To:
PM $42.00

ISSUES:
- Domestic PP rate is incorrrect, it should be $6.85. Notice also that is is showing the FC rate, and FC isn't a selected ship method.
- The international shipping isn't being calculated in the order, the "shipping fee" section of the order total shows as $0.00.

------------------------
Ship Method Scenario 3:
------------------------
Priority Mail
First Class

Domestic Ship To:
FC $2.07
PM $6.95

International Ship To:
PM $42.00

ISSUES:
- First Class isn't being presented as a valid shipping option, IT SHOULD BE - USPS offers First Class International.
- In this scenario (unlike scenario #2), international shipping IS being calculated in the order and the "shipping fee" section of the order total shows the correct amount of $42.00.

------------------------
Ship Method Scenario 4:
------------------------
First Class
Priority Mail

Domestic Ship To:
FC $6.95
PM $2.07

Intl Ship To:
FC $42.00

ISSUES:
- Notice how the ship amounts are transposed on the domestic order
- Notice how the ship amount

------------------------
And Finally:
------------------------
In the Product Shipping Method Setup in the product detail administration area, it is indicated that "Note: To use this option you must select Use Shipping Calculator in the Shipping Setup section in the cart settings." For all of the above scenarios, nothing was selected for Product Shippping Methods of the test produst. But it diodn't sem to matter whether ship methods were selected or not - nothing changed during the checkout process no matter what was selected.

As a follow-on to this post, I wanted to restate the above through the eyes of one of my clients who has a SmithCart store and ships all orders via USPS.

- they have lost virtually all international orders because the only shipping option that is offered to the shopper is the very expensive method of Priority Mail.
- First Class International is broken, and has been for quite some time.
- When the occasional international customer DOES opt for Priority Mail shipping, the cart doesn't charge it to the order, and shipping goes through as $0.00. (And no, they aren't running any "free shipping" promotions or rules.)

Hi Eric,

Which Product did you add to the Cart?

What is the Ship To address you entered on the Cart page?

I recommend going to the USPS website and entering the shipping address and weight for the order in question and see if it returns a ship cost. The address may be a po box or an address where USPS doesn't ship to or it could be a data entry error by the user.

My original post was purposely detailed so that I wouldn't get the canned reply of "are you able to duplicate this issue on our test server" which is the typical response.

* USPS First Class for intl is broken in your cart - try it!
* Changing the order of USPS "Selected Ship Methods" when First Class is included as a method results in a mixup of rates and ship methods - try it!
* In some scenarios, shipping isn't being charged to an international order, usually driven by either having a specific order of "selected ship methods" or having First Class be ship method #1 in the list - try it!

This gets acknowledged as a bug and gets fixed, or it doesn't. If it doesn't, we drop your cart and move on.

Hi Eric,

I appreciate the detailed post but you didn't include all the info I need to reproduce the issue. When I tested this last night I logged into the www21 test portal and completed 2 successful orders to the following 2 international addresses with "Product 1" added to the Cart so there must be something different about the transactions.

Waltherstraße 30
80337 Munich, Germany

4314 Main Street
Whistler, Canada, BC, V0N 1B4

It would be helpful if you could tell me which Product you added to the Cart and the Ship To address you used that produced the error so I am able to replicate the issue.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks

Kevin,
Here's a short cut to seeing ONE of the issues - set shipping to USPS, ship method to First Class, drop an item into the cart and use an international ship to.

We're not using the same store, I don't see any product named "Product 1", I don't see any orders since 3/22. The stores that I am looking at are here http://www21.smith-consulting.com/en-us/store.aspx and here http://www21.smith-consulting.com/en-us/store/2ndstore.aspx.

The store I used in the scenarios detailed above was this one http://www21.smith-consulting.com/en-us/store.aspx, the product in the cart was this one http://www21.smith-consulting.com/Store/ProductDetails/tabid/81/ProductID/3/language/en-US/Default.aspx.

I just set the store to USPS shipping with First Class as the sole method for shipping.

Qty 1 in the cart, shipping to 1 Grovernor's Square, Lindon, United Kingdom.

Click Caclculate Shipping and the Ship Method dropdown is empty.

Hi Eric,

I can tell you that I share the same frustrations with the shipping functionality - I've struggled with the issues for months. We are doing the same thing on the cognitiveconnectionstherapy.com site - we use USPS both domestic and internationally. Prior to an upgrade to Smith Cart 5.25 and a DNN Upgrade to 6.02.01 it was giving away many products with free shipping. It also throws errors if you enter the full zip code.

Just today, the customer sent out an email blast to their users and 10 out of 50 orders gave away shipping for free... The issue that was happening is back again and nothing has changed in the environment. I tried to order the same thing one of the store customers ordered and it calculated shipping for me. I can't replicate the issue but it keeps happening! Its a serious problem - I paid for the latest and greatest when it's really a bug that needs to be addressed.... and it has resurfaced.

Addresses that are appearing on these orders are for the US and seem normal.

I'm looking at the order confirmation email that gets sent to the admin and it says Ship Method: Free Shipping but that's not what I have defined anywhere on the site. No product is supposed to ship for free. I dont get it!

Kevin, any ideas?

Hi Chris,

I can see from the emails you attached to your Help Desk Ticket that there is a Discount being applied to the Orders. Is there a coupon being applied or which Discount option are you using?

Hi Eric,

Thank you for your patience international shipping can be very complicated. We have resolved the issue of the error being thrown when calculating Shipping for an International address and the fix will be included in the next release of the Cart.

Regarding the First Class method and transposing issue, according to the feedback from our programming dept, USPS has made some changes to their API causing the First Class method not to be returned and some rates transposing. This has been logged to our Bug Tracker system for our programmers to re-sync the shipping methods and I will reply to this thread as soon as an update is available.

Thank you for reporting these issues.

Chris/Kevin -
I *think* this was a good idea - just started a new thread for the "Free Shipping" issue over here.

Hey Kevin - the change log indicates a fix for this on v5.5.0 with a release date of yesterday (4/15), but latest download is something like v5.4.5 or so. The release date on v5.5.0 was pushed back once already which prompts me to ask if you could post an update on that?

But also, I think it would help us customers a great deal if the change log page could have status updates or progress indicators - something that would help for both planning purposes and the subsequent easing of client angst.

Hi Eric,

Sorry for the confusion, the bug fix listed in the Change Log is for the error being thrown when calculating for an international address and I have just edited the Change Log for clarification. Programming is still working on re-syncing the USPS shipping method changes and I will postback to this thread as soon as an update is available.

Kevin,
We're coming up on the 3 month anniversary. When should I expect this to be resolved?

Eric
