I have a Smith Cart installation that is working properly. However, the client is changing the structure of thier site and the DNN installation will only be running for a couple sections of the site. To access these sections, the client will be using subdomains. We have used the ifinity urlMaster module to direct the subdomain to the correct section of the site:

https://giftcards.ipbiloxi.com

However, there appears to be a license issue. If we disable the subdomain redirect and go to that page using either ipbiloxi.com or www.ipbiloxi.com the error goes away. I am not sure if this is a license issue or something with the redirecting?

Do I need to get the license reissued so it will work with that subdomain?

Hello,

Which version of the Cart and DNN are you currently running?

The issue seems to with the rewriting of the url but I believe our licensing dept. resolved this issue by including the sub-domains in the license files.

Thanks,

DNN 6.1.2

Shopping Cart 4.84

I have a similar problem. I requested the license under www.miteksoftwaretools.com. The client now wants the default portal to be www.mitektools.com with www.miteksoftwaretools.com as a portal alias.  When I have www.mitektools.com as the url and go to the store I get the message that the software needs to be licensed. When I have www.miteksoftwaretools.com in the url  the store comes up as fully licensed.  Can you assist in making my license work for both www.miteksoftwaretools.com and www.mitektools.com.

Thank you,

Judy

I hope that this is related to the licensing issue.

I licensed your product as miteksoftwaretools.com. The customer now wants the main URL for the site to be Mitektools.com. I have the DNN portal aliases set-up (see the attached document) with the main alias as mitektools.com.  If I log in with a host account or an admin account  to mitektools.com and browse the store the url changes to miteksoftwaretools.com and it logs me out (again see the attached document).  If I log into miteksoftwaretools.com and browse to the store I remain logged in and I have admin privs - see the documentation.

The customer alerted me to this error and I thought they were crazy at first - but sure enough I can redproduce this. I hope this is related to the fact that I licensed the store was miteksoftwaretools.com and all you need to do is add mitektools.com as an acceptable alias, but the fact that I am being logged out seems unrelated to the license issue.

Judy

UPDATE: The license issue that I posted earlier is still an open issue - but I resolved the issue of not being logged in when I went to the store pages.  It turned out to be a case where I had put the full url path of the store as miteksoftwaretools.com so when I logged in to the site mitektools.com it could not pass the authenication cookie to miteksoftwaretools.com.  I changed the portal alias to redirect to mitektools.com and changed the path in store to mitektools.com and now I remain logged in without an issue. But the store with the url of mitektools.com shows the store as not being licensed - that is the issue that remains open.

Hi Judy,

Our software modules are licensed per domain name and one license allows you to run the module on one live domain name and one test domain name. The license logic validates the primary domain name in the url giving you the ability to setup and run the module on multiple sub domains for your domain name. For example, if your live domain name is mywebsite.com then you are able to use the module on the following domain names:

www.mywebsite.com
mywebsite.com
test.mywebsite.com
dev.mywebsite.com
etc, etc.

The license logic validates the primary domain name within the url so the reason the trial message is still showing is because you are running the module under a different domain name that you asked us to generate the license key for. You can request a re-issue of your store license key here https://www.smith-consulting.com/pd/k....

Thanks,

I want to be sure that you are understanding - it is one portal. Their are multiple portal aliases for one portal - miteksoftwaretools.com and mitektools.com.  I requested the license for miteksoftwaretools.com, but the customer wants mitektools.com to the be the primary portal.  I simily need you to give me a license that will work for mitektools.com.  I am not trying to change portals or run the software on 2 portals - I simply need to have it work with the primary portal name mitektools.com. From the link it looks like you want to charge me $20.00.  This cannot be right.  Please tell me that I misunderstood and you will provide me with what ever it is I need so that the license will work with mitektools.com at no additional charge.

Hi Judy,

The Cart is licensed per domain name when you purchase a cart license we generate your license keys for one live domain name and one test domain name. If your second live domain mitektools.com redirects to miteksoftwaretools.com then the license key you were sent will work for you. If your second domain mitektools.com redirects to the same site but mitektools.com remains in the url so you actually have 2 unique domain names pointing to the same site then you would need to purchase a second domain license.

For example, we have smith-consulting.com and smithcart.com redirecting to the same site but when you type in smithcart.com it redirects the same site and the url changes to smith-consulting. If you have your second domain setup similar to the way we have smithcart.com setup then you only need once license. If you want to configure your web server so it displays the 2 unique domain names in the url then you need 2 domain licensees.

Hope this helps!

O.K, based on your example I should only need one license. I had requested the license for miteksoftwaretools.com but the customer wants mitektools.com as the primary domain name. If someone goes to the site as miteksoftwaretools.com it redirects to mitektools.com. But when I go to the store/shopping cart with the url mitektools.com now it says I need a license. Can you provide me with what I need so that it works for the url mitektools.com.

Hi Judy,

Since you initially requested a license for miteksoftwaretools.com, we will need to have your license key re-generated to enable mitektools.com to be licensed. You can request a re-issue of your store license key here https://www.smith-consulting.com/pd/k....

The Re-issue Store Key service fee of $20 covers the time it takes us to re-issue and update your license records.

Thanks,
