Paypal Website Payments Standard was recently released in the Smith Cart.

The advantages of using Paypal standard are:

  1. No merchant account required, you can use your regular paypal account
  2. No SSL required since the user enters their credit card info on paypal
  3. No PCI compliance to worry about
  4. No monthly fee. One caveat is that if you process more then $500/month in credit cards it is cheaper to get a real merchant account even with the monthly fee. The reason is because paypal charges 3% +30 cents per transaction.

To configure Smith Cart to work with Paypal Standard you need to populate the following module settings:

Gateway – choose paypal website payments standard

  • Merchant – enter your paypal email address
  • Merchant Logo URL – path to your company logo. Will show up on the paypal checkout screen.
